The New Hong Kong office of the ASM IC packaging facility opened in Tsing Yi, ms Carrie Lam (centre) , Chief Executive of the HKSAR, and Ms Orasa Livasiri (left) , chairman of the board of directors of Asmpt, and Mr Murder of Tim McLean (right) , chief executive of Asmpt, officiate at the opening ceremony of the new Hong Kong Office of ASM Pacific Technology Limited (“ASMPT”/“Group”)(Stock Code: 0522) , a global Technology and market leader in the development and delivery of advanced solutions and equipment and materials for the semiconductor assembly and packaging industry, on May 6,2010 in Huitun, Tsing Yi Bridge. The opening ceremony was officiated by Ms. Chief Executive of Hong Kong Carrie Lam, together with Ms. Orasa Livasiri, chairman of the board of directors of Asmpt, and Mr. Murder of Tim McLean, chief executive of ASMPT. On the TH, a number of Chinese and foreign political and business leaders attended the ceremony, crown cover gathered. The opening of the new Hong Kong office in Tsing Yi, after nearly 40 summers in the old office in Kwai Chung, was a major change for ASMPT and a major milestone for the group. The new office occupies more than 300,000 square feet and houses ASMPT’s research and Development Centre in Hong Kong. ASMPT’s Hong Kong Research and Development Centre employs 30 per cent of ASMPT’s research and development team and is the largest of ASMPT’s ten research and development centres worldwide. More than 50 per cent of the 1,300-strong workforce in Hong Kong IS ENGAGED IN R & D. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms Carrie Lam said, “I attach great importance to innovation and technology, which is one of the policy priorities of the current-term government. To establish an innovation and technology hub in Hong Kong, the R & D Industry has to flourish. I therefore welcome the grand opening of ASMPT'S NEW R & D Centre today and look forward to continuing to work with ASMPT and its peers to promote innovation and technology in Hong Kong. Mr Murder of Tim McLean added: “ASMPT was founded in 1975 and has been in Hong Kong since then. Today, we have developed into the world’s largest supplier of semiconductor assembly and packaging equipment and surface-mount technology solutions. New Bridge Exchange Office with Innovation Center, the opening of new facilities marks the group’s R & D efforts over the years. The new office of ASMPT currently employs about 1,000 people, more than 60 per cent of whom are R & D personnel. This is in line with the government’s commitment to excellence in innovation and technology, which is helping to diversify our economy and create quality jobs. ”
